It seems like MLS Commissioner Don Garber wasn’t lying back in July when he said that Messi’s arrival was just the beginning of a new era in MLS. Now, several media outlets are reporting that the league are analysing the option of having four designated players per team for next season, instead of three.

This change has one obvious reason behind: the inclusion of top talent from across the world no longer see MLS as a place to retire to but a league to compete in, and as a results various names are being linked with a move to North America. The latest player on the long list of MLS links is Germany and Bayern’s legendary forward, Thomas Müller.

According to Sports Bild in Germany, Müller, a key p in the German national team that won the World Cup in Brazil 2014, winning the ‘Silver Boot’ for the five goals he managed to score, is on the radar of numerous MLS clubs.
