Soccer and MLS fans will be able to watch Lionel Messi in action again when Inter Miami takes on New York City FC in a friendly match that will also serve to celebrate the Argentinian’s eighth Ballon d’Or win.
Messi became the first active MLS player to win the prestigious trophy by defeating Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain forwards, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, respectively.
The Barcelona legend won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina and the 2022-23 Ligue 1 title with PSG before joining Inter Miami. On US soil, he won the 2023 Leagues Cup with Inter and also led the team to the 2023 US Open Cup final. He has scored 11 goals and recorded eight assists in 14 games with Miami.
